La Seca (Valladolid), September 2018.- Great news for the brand new ‘Gama 61’ from Bodega Cuatro Rayas. The ’61 Dorado ‘, the wine with the most’ tradition ‘of the DO Rueda, has received a Gold in the 2018 Zarcillo Awards, as well as a score of 89 points out of one hundred by the magazine’ The Wine Advocate ‘, publication of the eminent critic Robert Parker. Likewise, ’61 Vermouth ‘, the cooperative’s groundbreaking 100% Verdejo vermouth, has garnered new recognition with a silver medal in the prestigious Spirits Selection by Concours Mondial competition.
In this 2018 edition, the Zarcillo Awards exceeded all expectations, with 2,020 wines submitted to the competition – which represents an increase of 12% compared to its previous edition in 2015. A wine sample in which 25 producing countries were represented and which, during four tasting sessions at the Evolution Forum in Burgos, was evaluated by a panel of 84 national and international expert tasters. This jury awarded the ’61 Dorado ‘with a Gold that thus adds to the extensive list of recognitions of one of the most successful references of Bodega Cuatro Rayas.
On the other hand, on August 31, the ratings awarded by the illustrious publication ‘The Wine Advocate’, an informative organization on the world of wine led by Robert Parker, probably the most influential wine critic in the world, were announced. It has numerous renowned experts who taste, evaluate and rate more than 4,000 wines per month. In its latest issue, the specialist Luis Gutiérrez, in charge of evaluating Spanish and many other country references for the magazine, was pleased to give the aforementioned ’61 Dorado ‘a score of 89 points out of a hundred.
Recognitions continue for ’61 Vermouth ‘
And since there are no two without three, this edition of the Spirits Selection by Concours Mondial, which took place in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv on August 21, 22 and 23, also recognized the excellence of Bodega Cuatro Rayas. This time it was ’61 Vermouth ‘that achieved a silver medal in a competition in which spirits from 50 producing countries were judged by 78 specialized tasters from 26 different nationalities. The diversity of the samples to be evaluated and the profile of the juries make this unique competition, an international reference in the world of spirits.
